Language and Culture

We at The Institute of ACS Athens are very proud of our school’s rich cultural diversity, which can be seen not only throughout our student body but also throughout our faculty and staff members. As an international school currently welcoming over 64 different nationalities, we give great importance to inclusivity and building relationships. Educating our community on such topics is key to building an environment of unity and dispelling negative stereotypes and personal biases that only hamper growth and development.

Language is the key to better understanding cultures. You cannot understand one’s culture without accessing its language directly. Language is one of the most integral parts of any culture. It is the way by which people communicate with one another, build relationships, and create a sense of community. Learning new languages and ultimately understanding different cultures better helps us recognize and respect “ways of thinking and functioning” that are not necessarily our own, thus, building trust, respect, and understanding.

At The Institute of ACS Athens, we emphasize the importance of language acquisition and growth. Our Language and Culture program not only involves learning alphabets, word arrangements, and rules of grammar but also learning society’s customs and behavior.

The Institute of ACS Athens has put forth an array of masterclasses aimed at providing further education in the realm of language and will continue to grow its interactive classes which you can explore and register for

“If culture was a house, then language was the key to the front door, to all the rooms inside.”
— Khaled Hosseini, Afghan-born American novelist, and physician.
