Charmin Smith

UC Berkeley Women’s Basketball Head Coach

Charmin Smith was named head coach of the Cal women’s basketball team on June 21, 2019, after spending 12 seasons as an assistant on the Cal women’s coaching staff. She began her coaching career in 2003 as an assistant coach at Boston College, where she spent one season before joining Tara Vanderveer’s coaching staff at Stanford. Her coaching portfolio also includes a short-term with the New York Liberty of the WNBA.
Charmin Smith attended Stanford University where she played for four years; Smith earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil and environmental engineering at Stanford. Her WNBA playing career included the Minnesota Lynx, Seattle Storm, and Phoenix Mercury; she also played in Sweden for one year prior to her coaching career.
